Watch and Pray...

“Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” He went away a second time and prayed, “My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done.”

Take This Cup...

“Abba, Father,” he said, “everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.”

In Remembrance

And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after the supper Jesus took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is poured out for you. ~ Luke 22:19-20 (NIV)

A Cup of Cold Water

And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones who is my disciple, truly I tell you, that person will certainly not lose their reward.” (NIV)

My Chosen Portion

The Lord is my chosen portion and my cup;

Take Refuge in God

1 Keep me safe, O God,
for in you I take refuge.

What the Father Wills

35 Going a little farther, he fell to the ground and prayed that if possible the hour might pass from him. 36 “Abba, Father,” he said, “everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.” ~ Mark 14:35-36

Poured Out

27 Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. 28 This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. ~ Matthew 26:27-28 (NIV 1984)

The New Covenant

Jesus in Gethsemane

They came to a place named Gethsemane; and He said to His disciples, "Sit here until I have prayed."

And He took with Him Peter and James and John, and began to be very distressed and troubled.

And He said to them, "My soul is deeply grieved to the point of death; remain here and keep watch."

And He went a little beyond them, and fell to the ground and began to pray that if it were possible, the hour might pass Him by.

And He was saying, "Abba! Father! All things are possible for You; remove this cup from Me; yet not what I will, but what You will."

And He came and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, "Simon, are you asleep? Could you not keep watch for one hour?
