HIS Words Are Joy

Your words were found and I ate them,
And Your words became for me a joy and the delight of my heart;
For I have been called by Your name,
Lord God of hosts.

Sold Birthright

29 Once when Jacob was cooking some stew, Esau came in from the open country, famished. 30 He said to Jacob, “Quick, let me have some of that red stew! I’m famished!” (That is why he was also called Edom.)

31 Jacob replied, “First sell me your birthright.”

32 “Look, I am about to die,” Esau said. “What good is the birthright to me?”

33 But Jacob said, “Swear to me first.” So he swore an oath to him, selling his birthright to Jacob.

34 Then Jacob gave Esau some bread and some lentil stew. He ate and drank, and then got up and left.

So Esau despised his birthright.

Original Sin Involved Food

When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. ~ Genesis 3:6 (NIV)

God's Words Fill HIS Children with Joy

When I received your words, I ate them.
They filled me with joy.
My heart took delight in them.
Lord God who rules over all,
I belong to you. ~ (NIRV)

Feasting on God's Word

When your words came, I ate them;
they were my joy and my heart’s delight,
for I bear your name,
O LORD God Almighty. ~ Jeremiah 15:16
